Youth Lessons

  • Lesson availability is limited. Not all lessons are offered every day.
  • All of Ullr Mountain is designated as a slow skiing zone to provide little learners and families a non-threatening environment to build skills at their own pace.
  • Prices do not include rental equipment or lift tickets.
  • Our children's group and private lessons do not cover terrain with black or double black diamond designation, mogul runs, or tree runs.
  • Lessons require an advance online booking - to offer lessons to the greatest number of people with our current capacity restrictions, students are limited to one, 1-hour private, or half-day group class per day.
  • All students are required to wear a face-covering and goggles during lessons.

Lesson Types

Kinderschool

Available Saturdays/Holidays/Select Vacation Periods

  • Level 1: Offered mornings only, Kinderschool is for children new to skiing. This class takes place at our Flapjack learning area. Children will learn how to put on skis, proper foot placement, and how to descend a gentle slope.
  • Level 2: Level 2 Kinderschool is for children who have previous experience on skis. This lesson will work on stopping, turning independently, and increasing comfort on their skis while on our Flapjack learning area and Magic Carpet.

Our safety rules require each child five and younger to have assistance riding the chairlift with an adult. Therefore our group Kinderschool lessons will not utilize the Ullr chairlift.

Mountain Rangers

Available Saturdays/Holidays/Select Vacation Periods

  • Level 1: The Level 1 Mountain Rangers is for children who are new to the sport of skiing. These lessons take place at our Flapjack learning area and cover topics including tips on proper gear usage, foot placement, safety, and get kids feeling comfortable on their skis.
  • Level 2: Level 2 is for children who are comfortable on skis and have taken beginner lessons. These lessons will focus on perfecting stops and turns while gaining confidence with speed. This class takes place at our Flapjack learning area and Magic Carpet, and may additionally cover chairlift safety and Big Bunny terrain if ready.
  • Level 3: Level 3 is for children who can come to a complete stop, comfortable with their turns, and who are ready for an introduction to parallel turning. This class utilizes the Ullr chairlift and green and blue runs on Ullr Mountain. This class is for children who are looking to gain comfort in their ski ability and terrain levels.
  • Level 4: Level 4 Mountain Rangers is for children who are confident and ready to go. Children in this class must have had a prior introduction to parallel turns as this class focuses on fine-tuning skills and more dynamic techniques. This class incorporates drills and technical training best suited for children ages eight+. *Level 4 Mountain Rangers is only available on afternoons during peak periods.

Private Lessons

One-on-one instruction is the best way to seek out specific goals or start your learning experience at the pace that best fits your child. Private lessons are intended to accommodate one student and are offered in one-hour increments throughout the day. Hour-long lessons are available beginning at age six for skiers and age seven for snowboarders.

Semi-Private Lessons

Available for groups of two to four, these hour-long lessons must have students of similar skiing or snowboarding ability. Semi-private lessons are available for ages six+ and can be created by adding additional students to a private lesson.

Meeting Point

All classes including groups and private lessons will meet at our Flapjack Learning Terrain Area.

Please arrive on-site at least 60-90 Minutes prior to your class start time. All students should be suited up and ready for their lesson 15 minutes prior to class and at our check-in location with gear and lift tickets. We will not accept any student in a class once it has begun.

Lesson Policies

Online lesson reservations

All lesson programs must be purchased & reserved in advance for all weekend, holiday, and peak periods.

Lesson Cancellations

All lessons canceled within 5 days of the lesson date will be assessed a $10 cancellation fee. All lessons canceled within 2 days of the lesson date will be non-refundable, no exceptions. If the guest wishes to reschedule, they must do so prior to 2 days from their arrival. Lessons can only be rescheduled ONE time and will incur a $10 rescheduling fee. Once a lesson has been rescheduled, it becomes non-refundable if the guest wishes to cancel.

Class Check-In

All classes including groups and private lessons will meet at our Flapjack learning terrain for check-in, plan to arrive on-site at least 60-90 minutes prior to your class start time, all students should be suited up and ready for their lesson 15 minutes prior to class and at our check-in location with gear and lift ticket. We will not accept any students in a class once it has begun. Helmets are not required but are strongly encouraged.
