Ski Instructor

Position: Ski Instructor 

Department: Snow Sports 

Direct Report: Snow School Manager 

Time: Part-time | Full-time Seasonal 

Wage: $18 per hour (starting)

Role Overview: 

Ski Instructors provide high-quality instruction to individuals and groups in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. This role requires strong communication skills, guest service focus, and a passion for sharing the love of skiing with others. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide safe, professional, and fun instruction to students of all ages. 
  • Assist students to achieve their goal of improvement. 
  • Provide feedback to students or to students’ parents regarding progress made in the lesson and what to work on next. 
  • Upholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain with varying weather conditions. 
  • Ensuring that students are matched to appropriate instructor skill levels and work with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary. 
  • Communicating instructions and helping guests to their feet during a lesson; lifting children by the vest (if applicable). 
  • Supervising children in class at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardians. 
  • Maintain a professional attitude and represent MFSR values. 
  • Adhere to the Alpine Responsibility code at all times, 
  • Wear a properly assigned uniform. 
  • Exceed expectations by going out of your way to assist all guests, being courteous, friendly, and informative, ensuring the ultimate customer service experience on the mountain. 
  • Answer guest inquiries and resolve problems quickly and effectively. 
  • Foster an atmosphere of safety and cooperation and promotes positive teamwork amongst your team members. 
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Advanced skiing proficiency required. 
  • Strong communication and guest service skills with all age groups. 
  • Team-oriented with a professional attitude. 
  • Able to work in inclement weather, including extreme cold (-20°F), wind, and snow. 
  • Available to work holidays and weekends (weekday shifts may also be available). 
  • Physically able to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently. 
  • Previous ski instruction experience preferred but not required. 
  • Prior experience working with youth (e.g., coaching, camps, lifeguarding, scouting, or similar roles) preferred. 
  • Knowledge of the local area/resort a plus. 

 

Work Environment : This role requires working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Instructors must be comfortable walking on uneven or slippery terrain, climbing and descending stairs, and standing or skiing for extended periods of time.
