❄️ Lutsen Mountains Morning Report — Three runs on the North Side of Eagle open today!
Good morning from Lutsen Mountains! Today, January 12, we're looking forward to SUNSHINE today with a high near 36. We've got a 1" boost to our base from last night's snowfall.
We are very excited to continue pushing towards additional trail openings, they will be opening quickly! Today, we've opened expert terrain George's Run, Cliff Run, and Chris's Couloir on the North side of Eagle. Last week, we opened Upper and Lower Grizzly on Moose Mountain. While it is groomed right now, this trail will transform into a fun mogul run over the coming weeks. Get some cuorduroy runs on it while you can! We also opened the final headwall of Cascade, allowing riders to enter Caribou Express from both sides. This has helped traffic to spread out in that bottom gathering area.
We expect to be able to add Upper Meadows and Coyote in the coming days. Stay tuned!
🏔️ Exciting Terrain Opening Soon
There’s great news for adventurous riders: new and long-awaited terrain is on track to open soon!
📍 Eagle Mountain — North Side Terrain OPENED TODAY
Following another successful snowmaking period, trails on the North face of Eagle (Cliff Run, George's and Chris's) are ready for you. Experts, boot up and enjoy!
📍 Moose Mountain — Additional Trails Towards Caribou Express & North Side Terrain
Expect some openings on the south face of Moose in the coming week as our groomers spread out remaining snowmaking piles!
Lastly, the north side of Moose Mountain—including steeper pitches that haven’t been able to open for a couple of seasons—is being worked toward opening. This will significantly expand expert terrain and give folks a chance to explore more of what Moose has to offer.
📍 The Return of Mystery Mountain & Timberwolf
After a couple of years on the sidelines, we are on track to open both Mystery and Timberwolf lifts! Mystery Mountain has been unable to open entirely due to snow totals, but thanks to off-season snowmaking improvements and the hard work of of our snowmakers, we are excited to bring this terrain back to the rotation. Timberwolf Lift has also not run in some time, but is ready to make a return. A new drive has been put into the lift and it made its first revolutions the other day and it is looking positive. Before opening, the lift still requires some final tuning of the new drive, several hours of run time, and a load test before being approved for public use. All of this is underway and we are very confident that "T-wolf" will be back in action!
Mystery Lift Expected opening - 1/16
Timberwolf Expected Opening - TBD
These additions are part of the resort’s ongoing terrain expansion and come after great coverage and snowmaking across the mountain. As always, exact opening times will depend on weather/conditions, so watch the Mountain Report/Snow Report for the latest updates each day.
Stay out of closed terrain!
As we make final preparations to open some of these trails, it is imperative that riders stay out of these areas. Snowcats will be operating to push out snowmaking piles and remove snowmaking equipment. Running into these machines will cause serious and/or fatal injuries. Riders seen outside of open terrain will face loss of riding privileges. This is for your safety!
We greatly appreciate everyone's patience as we work towards opening new trails and lifts. We assure you the wait will be worth it!
We hope everyone has a fun and safe day here at Lutsen Mountains. We will see you on the slopes!
