Role Overview:
Lutsen Mountains is searching for a detail-oriented, organized, and professional individual to join our team as a Marketing & Events Manager to oversee all on resort marketing programs, social media, and coordinating the duties and procedures of group events such as weddings, meetings, and other events.
The Marketing & Events Manager will report to the Chief Marketing Officer of Midwest Family Ski Resorts and be a member of the marketing team. This position will be responsible for being a liaison between MFSR tactics and resort operations, while also supporting the marketing team in other cross-resort programming when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Marketing
- Manage and administer all website changes, updates and content consistent with that of resort operating season, on-mountain conditions and other information gathered from resort operating teams or MFSR marketing teams.
- Update snow report programs and websites on a daily basis.
- Must coordinate this with mountain operations and ski patrol.
- May need multiple updates a day based on current operations, snowmaking and other weather factors.
- Manage all aspects of social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter) for Lutsen Mountains.
- Post daily snow report snipit with links back to website for full report
- Post updates to further enhance revenue and other guest service communications.
- Answer all user questions and comments on social media in a professional and timely manner.
- Administer Google Business Manager
- Includes updating various business hours of operations
- Answering and or following up with any Google Review
- Create a spreadsheet of reviews and comments for Lutsen Management Teams.
- Assist CMO with email creation for weekly e-newsletters and other email marketing tactics.
- Gather resort content on a weekly if not daily basis. This can consist of the following:
- Photography, videography, drone and GoPro footage.
Event Coordination
- Coordinate with MFSR (Midwest Family Ski Resorts) Wedding Sales Specialist for transition of clients to discuss their wedding vision and preferences.
- Coordinate and oversee all wedding day activities, including setup, vendor arrivals, ceremony, reception, catering, and teardown.
- Work with Food & Beverage to ensure we are staffed correctly for catering and all selected food and drink items are ordered and prepared.
- Work with Marketing & Sales to ensure we are sold out for the off-season with weddings and added events that require building rentals.
- Provide input and feedback on pricing based on observations for and interactions with clients.
- Look for new revenue opportunities that meets the company’s cost to sales margin target (can work with Controller or CFO (Chief Financial Officer) to help analyze full picture of estimated costs and revenue) and provide a written operational proposal for approval.
- Provide regular updates to the Marketing & Sales team on how weddings, events, tours, etc. are going to ensure effective communication within the team.
- Handle coordination of in-season events.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in customer service oriented supervisory or management role
- A background and knowledge of photography, videography & use of the Adobe Suite is desired but not a necessity to be qualified for this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to details and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
- Good leadership and training abilities
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
- A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience as a front desk manager, sales manager, or similar role
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular)
- Ability to learn and work with other software as required to perform job responsibilities
- Good understanding of procedures and practices in the hospitality industry
- High School degree; additional qualification as an administrative assistant will be a plus.
