Trail Descriptions
The Lutsen Nordic Center offers both traditional x-c ski trails and a unique combination trail we call "Norpine" where cross-country skiers use alpine lifts to reach mountaintop x-c trailheads.

Ullr Mountain Routes:
North Road: (Easiest) Up to 5 km round trip.
This trail (#1) departs from the north end of the parking lot and follows an old road bed approximately 2.5 km before it turns and begins to climb Ullr Mountain. Skied out and back, this gentle grade is a great warm-up for the beginner/novice cross-country skier.
Ullr Trail: (More Difficult) Up to 9 km round trip
Follow the North Road trail as above, but continue where the trail turns to climb Ullr Mountain. While the climb is gentle, it is more difficult than the North Road trail. When you reach the summit of Ullr Mountain, return on the same trail.
Ullr Norpine: (Easiest) 4.5 km
Use the Ullr Chairlift to take care of the climb to the summit of Ullr Mountain. Trailhead starts at mountain summit and gradually descends 350 feet on its 4.5 km return to the base area. (If unfamiliar with lift, ask operator for instructions or to reduce speed at load and unload.)

Mystery Mountain Routes:
Mystery Loop: (More Difficult) 9.5 km
Start on North Road trail. Approximately .5 km, fork left (trail #20). Follow #20 across river bridge, past intersection with #25, past old homestead, across 3 downhill ski runs until it intersects with trail #4 (~ 2 km). Turn right on trail #4 and begin long climb up Mystery Mountain (~ 5 km) At mountain summit, meet trail #25. Follow #25 (1 km downhill) to intersection with #20. Turn left at #20 and return to base area (1 km).
