Nordic Skiing
Lutsen Mountains has 4K of ski trails around Ullr Mountain that are accessible by chair lift. Your Nordic ticket allows you to ride Ullr lift to access the top of the mountain to gradually descend groomed, tracked trails into the Poplar River valley through a mixed forest of aspen, birch, maple, and evergreen. Classic or skate, it’s up to you – either way, it’s a unique xc-ski adventure with alpine views of Lake Superior and the Satwooth Mountain chain, before gently gliding into the forest and back to the base area.
Daily tickets are $9.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 6-12. Cross-country ski rentals are available at the Lutsen Mountains rental shop; please purchase with your ticket.
Nordic Skiing in the Area
Cook County boasts some of the best Nordic skiing in the country! The North Shore Ski Trails offer nearly 200K of groomed trails winding through the woods between the Temperance River State Park and the Bally Creek Trails north of Cascade River State Park. Spectacular scenery, varied terrain and abundant snow add up to a premier cross country ski destination. Whether you prefer classic or skate skiing (1/3 of the trails are groomed for skate skiing); whether you are a beginner, an expert, or somewhere in between, there is the perfect trail for you.
