What's New at Lutsen

Improvements at Lutsen Mountains for the 2009-10 Season

Road improvements, Pedestrian Bridge, Infrastructure for Future Village

Significant improvements to Ski Hill Road between the Bridge Run and Brule Run bridges, adjacent to Lutsen Mountains’ base area, have recently been made. Guests will enjoy a brand new road complete with smooth pavement, sidewalks, street lights, and a pedestrian bridge over Brule Run. Not only will these improvements make getting around a little easier, but it is the first step towards Lutsen Mountain’s long range plan for a mountainside village – a courtyard corridor with shops, restaurants, galleries, etc.

Triple Chair Lift

Under construction last season, Lutsen Mountain’s new triple chair lift will debut this December. The 10th Mountain Chair, named in recognition of founder George Nelson’s service to WWII’s 10th Mountain Division, will service the expert runs of Eagle Mountain, taking skiers from the Ski School Building to the top of Eagle Mountain near the towers. This lift will increase the capacity to Eagle Mountain by 30%.

Events and Packages

Turn off the Food Network and enjoy a live culinary presentation as part of the daily event line-up at Papa Charlie’s Tavern. Every Monday evening starting in January, guest chefs from area restaurants, the Twin Cities and beyond will demonstrate how to prepare, cook and serve a featured menu. Watch for free or stay for dinner and conversation.

Lutsen's first First Time Family Package makes it simple and affordable for families to try skiing/boarding for the first time. The First-Time Family gets everything they need: beginner lift tickets, rentals, lessons and lodging for a family of four from $498 – that’s just $124.50 per person for 2 days/2 nights!

The new Family Olympic Festival will take place February 5-7, 2010. This special package includes lift tickets and lodging plus free ski rental for the entire family, snowshoe tours, family Olympic race, bonfire and marshmallow roast, and a fireworks show on Saturday night. A family of four can purchase this 2-day/2-night package from $448.
